Charter of a Gulfstream G200 starts at $4,500 to $6,500 per flight hour. Originally developed by Israel Aerospace Industries as the Galaxy, Gulfstream produced the G200 from 1999 to 2011, delivering 250 aircraft. It seats up to 10 passengers across a 3,400-nautical-mile range at 488 knots. Twin Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306A engines produce 6,040 lbf each. The 24.4-foot cabin is among the widest in the super midsize class, built on a strengthened Astra SPX wing with integrated winglets. Hogani Jets coordinates each Gulfstream G200 charter through licensed Part 135 operators.

The G200 began life as the Galaxy, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries' Galaxy Aerospace subsidiary in a risk-sharing partnership that originally included the Soviet Yakovlev design bureau before that arrangement ended in 1995.

The Galaxy first flew on December 25, 1997, and earned US and Israeli certification by December 1998. Gulfstream Aerospace acquired Galaxy Aerospace in June 2001 and renamed the aircraft the G200, continuing production until the final unit rolled off the line in December 2011.

Production of the G200 ran from 1999 to 2011, with 250 aircraft delivered before Gulfstream introduced the modernized G280 as its successor. The design used a widened fuselage on a strengthened version of the existing Astra SPX wing.
The Gulfstream G200 is a super midsize twin-engine jet, originally designed by Israel Aerospace Industries and produced for Gulfstream. Produced from 1999 to 2011, it carries up to 10 passengers across a 3,400-nautical-mile range at 488 knots. Two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306A engines produce 6,040 lbf each, confirmed independently across multiple published sources. Cabin length is 24.4 feet.

The Galaxy program set out to deliver large-cabin comfort at a lower price than full-size heavy jets, using an existing wing to control cost and schedule.

First, engineers built a new, wider fuselage large enough for genuine three-abreast seating, then attached it to a strengthened version of the existing Astra SPX wing rather than designing an all-new wing.

Second, the team added integrated winglets and modified high-lift devices, including Krueger flaps on the wing's inboard leading edge, to recover runway performance lost to the aircraft's higher wing loading.

Third, Gulfstream and IAI fitted two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306 turbofans, an upgrade over the smaller Honeywell engines used on the related, narrower-cabin Astra SPX and G100.

Per Gulfstream's published specifications, the G200 climbs to 37,000 feet in about 19 minutes and reaches a long-range cruise altitude of 41,000 feet at 430 knots, or a high-speed cruise of 470 knots at 37,000 feet.

The aircraft that became the G200 had an unusually international start, developed by an Israeli manufacturer with an early, ultimately unsuccessful partnership with a Soviet design bureau.

Israel Aircraft Industries' Galaxy Aerospace subsidiary launched the program in September 1993, working initially with the Yakovlev OKB before that risk-sharing arrangement ended in 1995. EADS Sogerma then took over fuselage and empennage manufacturing.

The aircraft flew as the Astra Galaxy, then simply the Galaxy, before Gulfstream Aerospace's 2001 acquisition of Galaxy Aerospace led to the G200 name. Gulfstream built 250 aircraft through 2011; new aircraft carried a list price of approximately $23 million.

Today, pre-owned G200s typically trade between roughly $2.4 million and $7 million depending on year and condition. Gulfstream replaced the line with the modernized G280, launched in 2008.

A super midsize jet trades a higher hourly rate for meaningfully more range, cabin room, and baggage capacity.

  • More range: 3,400 nautical miles versus roughly 2,000 to 2,700 nm for most midsize jets.
  • More cabin: 24.4 feet long and 7.2 feet wide versus roughly 17 to 21 feet long and 5.5 to 6.5 feet wide for most midsize jets.
  • More baggage: 120 to 150 cubic feet, among the largest in its class, versus 40 to 65 cubic feet for most midsize jets.
  • Better cross-country speed: a 488-knot cruise keeps trip times competitive with larger, more expensive aircraft.
  • Best mission: coast-to-coast US trips and regional intercontinental routes with 6 to 10 passengers.

The Gulfstream G200 seats up to 10 passengers. Standard configurations typically seat 8 across two cabin zones.

  • A wide, three-abreast-capable cross-section, among the widest of any jet in the super midsize class.
  • A fully enclosed lavatory and partial galley, with a fresh-air cabin system as standard.
  • Cabin height is 6.2 feet, giving most passengers genuine stand-up room throughout the cabin.
  • Sixteen cabin windows keep the interior bright on longer legs.
  • In-flight accessible baggage keeps items within reach throughout the flight.
  • Baggage capacity is reported between roughly 120 and 150 cubic feet depending on source, among the largest in its class.

The Gulfstream G200 cabin is 24.4 feet long, 7.2 feet wide, and 6.2 feet tall. Cabin pressurization holds a 6,000-foot equivalent altitude at cruise. The wide cross-section is among the widest in the super midsize class. The aircraft seats up to 10 passengers with a large in-flight accessible baggage hold.

Within the wide-cabin super midsize class, the G200 offers one of the broadest cross-sections available. The Gulfstream G280 offers a modernized cockpit and more range on a similar cabin footprint. The G200 remains a strong value pick for buyers prioritizing cabin width and baggage space at a lower cost of entry.

The 3,400-nautical-mile range covers coast-to-coast US routes with reserves to spare. New York to Los Angeles (2,451 nm) is comfortably within nonstop range.

The most natural comparisons are against a contemporary super midsize competitor and a lower-cost step-down within the same manufacturer's lineup. The Falcon 2000 offers more cabin length and baggage at a similar rate. The Gulfstream G150 offers a lower rate with a smaller cabin.

How much does it cost to charter a Gulfstream G200?

Gulfstream G200 charter rates typically run $4,500 to $6,500 per flight hour. New York to Los Angeles one-way runs approximately $35,500 to $43,500. Final cost depends on route, operator, positioning, and season.

What is the difference between the Gulfstream G200 and G280?

The G280, launched in 2008 as the G200's successor, added a modernized cockpit, more powerful engines, and considerably more range on a broadly similar cabin. The G200 remains a lower-cost entry into the same wide-cabin design philosophy.

How many passengers can the Gulfstream G200 carry?

The G200 seats up to 10 passengers. Standard configurations typically seat 8 across two cabin zones.

How many Gulfstream G200s were built?

Gulfstream built 250 G200 aircraft between 1999 and 2011, before replacing the line with the modernized G280.

What makes the Gulfstream G200's cabin different from other super midsize jets?

The G200 was built on a widened fuselage attached to a strengthened Astra SPX wing, giving it one of the widest cross-sections of any jet in the super midsize class, wide enough for genuine three-abreast seating.

What is the real range of a Gulfstream G200?

Published range is 3,400 nautical miles at Mach 0.75 with four passengers. Realistic range with a full cabin and additional reserves runs somewhat lower.

Are empty leg flights available on the Gulfstream G200?

Yes. Repositioning flights create empty-leg opportunities. Availability is short-notice and date-fixed; Hogani Jets recommends flexibility when pursuing empty-leg pricing.
