The Bombardier Global 8000 is an ultra long range twin-engine jet built by Bombardier Aviation. In production since 2024, it carries up to 19 passengers across an 8,000-nautical-mile range at 540 knots. Twin General Electric Passport 20 engines deliver a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.95. The 54.5-foot four-zone cabin is identical to the Global 7500, including a permanent bedroom and a full-size kitchen.

The Global 8000 starts from the same platform as the Global 7500 and adds four specific improvements: more range, higher cruise speed, higher MTOW, and a higher climb rate.

First, the GE Passport 20 engines were uprated by up to 7% in thrust, enabling the 8,000 nm range and the higher maximum operating speed of Mach 0.95. A flight test prototype reached Mach 1.015 during envelope expansion testing.

Second, fuel volume was increased to support the additional 300 nm of range, and the MTOW rose to 116,000 lbs from the Global 7500's 114,250 lbs.

Third, the flight envelope was expanded from the Global 7500's Mach 0.925 to Mach 0.95, making the Global 8000 the fastest business jet in the world and the fastest civilian aircraft since Concorde.

Fourth, avionics updates include automatic ADS selection and other changes incorporated from serial numbers 70240 and 70250 onward. All of these changes are also available to existing Global 7500 owners through a Bombardier service bulletin.

The Global 8000 occupies an unusual position: it is simultaneously a new production aircraft and a service bulletin upgrade available to existing Global 7500 operators. Bombardier designed the improvements to be retrofittable from the outset.

The launch customer was named in November 2022, paying US$312 million for four firm Global 8000 orders and converting eight existing Global 7500 orders. Also announced plans to convert its entire Global 7500 aircraft to Global 8000 standard.

The equipped price of a new Global 8000 was $81 million in 2023, approximately $10 million more than the Global 7500. The development cost was described by Bombardier as low relative to the performance improvements, given the shared platform.

Four fully separated zones include a permanent bedroom and a full-size kitchen. The aircraft seats up to 19 passengers with 195 cubic feet of baggage capacity.

Within the Global family, the 8000 offers 300 nm more range and a higher cruise speed than the 7500, with identical cabin dimensions and the same four-zone layout.
