  4. Private Jet Charter to Vail and Beaver Creek: Fly Eagle, Not Denver

A private jet to Vail starts at $1,300 per turboprop hour, up to $2,500. Light jet hours range from $2,300 to $3,800. Most private flights land at Eagle County Regional Airport (KEGE / EGE), 29 miles west of Vail. Its runway 7/25 is 9,000 feet long, at 6,547 feet of elevation.

Every business jet can use it. The tower is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., so daylight arrivals work best. Rifle (RIL) is the usual weather alternate. Hogani Jets coordinates every charter through licensed Part 135 operators or carriers approved by the applicable aviation authority.

Private flights to Vail skip the drive over the mountains from Denver International. Eagle County Regional sits in the same valley, 29 miles west of the village. Its 9,000-foot runway takes every business jet. Skis and boot bags travel with the group, sized to the cabin.

  • Valley airport: EGE is 29 miles from Vail and closer still to Beaver Creek.
  • Full-size runway: 9,000 by 150 feet, long enough for every business jet.
  • Same-valley alternates: Rifle and Aspen sit within an hour or so by air.

Private jets to Vail use Eagle County Regional Airport in Gypsum, often called Vail/Eagle. A Vail Eagle airport private jet arrival comes in on runway 7/25. Rifle sits lower and is the common weather alternate. Aspen is closer to Vail but limits wingspan to 95 feet.

What should passengers know about a private jet to Eagle County airport?

A private jet to Eagle County airport lands in high, unmarked terrain on every side. Night operations are discouraged for pilots unfamiliar with the field. The control tower closes at 7 p.m. local time. Airport staff are on duty from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Matt's Recommendation

“For Vail, aim to land at Eagle in daylight. Keep Rifle in the plan for storm days.”

International flights can clear customs at Eagle County Thursday through Monday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. After-hours clearance is available by phone with 3 hours' notice. Centennial Airport near Denver has continuous customs service, so it suits midweek international arrivals. Aspen lists no customs service at all.

Can a private jet fly from Canada or Mexico straight to Vail?

Yes, a private jet can fly from Canada or Mexico straight to Eagle County and clear customs there. Plan the arrival for Thursday to Monday office hours, or book after-hours service 3 hours ahead. Midweek flights may clear at Centennial before a short hop west.

A private flight to Vail from Denver Centennial is a half-hour hop in a light jet. A private jet Denver to Vail hop by turboprop takes about 40 minutes. A private jet New York to Vail trip from Teterboro takes about 3 hours 35 minutes nonstop. Dallas is about 1 hour 50 minutes away.

  • Los Angeles: from Van Nuys, the private jet Los Angeles to Vail flight is roughly 1 hour 50 minutes.
  • Houston: leaving Hobby, a private jet Houston to Vail flight lasts roughly 2 hours 15 minutes.
  • Chicago: about 2 hours 20 minutes from Midway by midsize jet.
  • Miami: about 3 hours 45 minutes from Opa-locka by super midsize jet.

Dogs, cats and other small pets can fly private to Vail in the cabin, with the operator's approval. Flights from other US airports need no federal pet import paperwork.

A dog coming from another country clears CDC entry rules on its first US landing. Give the operator each animal's breed, weight and crate size.

Flight time and cabin size make up most of the private jet to Vail cost. Christmas and New Year weeks are the hardest to book, and aircraft tighten early. Winter storms can divert a flight to Rifle, adding ground time. De-icing on cold mornings can also appear on the final bill.

  • Holiday weeks: late December books out first.
  • Weather: snow and wind can mean a Rifle diversion.
  • De-icing: a cold-morning cost that cannot be priced in advance.
  • One-way trips: the cost of sending the aircraft home empty is often included.

What is the cheapest private flight to Vail?

The cheapest private flight to Vail is a turboprop from Denver Centennial to Eagle County. The 96-nautical-mile hop takes about 40 minutes and is priced as one flight hour. That puts it at $1,300 to $2,500 before taxes and fees.

Is it better to fly private into Eagle County or Denver for Vail?

Eagle County is better for most private flights to Vail. It sits 29 miles from the village, in the same valley. Denver International is more than 100 miles away by I-70, a drive that winter storms can slow or close. Groups landing in Denver can still take a 30-minute private flight from Centennial to Eagle.

Vail empty legs show up when jets fly home after dropping skiers off. Most head to Denver, Texas or the coasts. These seats sell for less than a normal hourly charter. Departure times depend on the original booking and can change with the weather.

For Vail empty legs, contact charter@hoganijets.com or +1-855-660-0573 with dates and the size of the group.

The busiest season for private flights to Vail is winter, peaking over Christmas and New Year. Presidents' Day weekend in February is another holiday stretch. Summer brings Bravo! Vail, a classical music festival held across the valley from late June to early August.

What is the Bravo! Vail Music Festival about?

Bravo! Vail is a summer classical music festival in the Vail Valley, with more than 60 concerts each season. The 2026 season, its 39th, ran June 25 to August 6. Visiting orchestras included the New York Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Most visitors stay in Vail Village, Lionshead, or nearby Beaver Creek. Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail is in town, near the lifts. Park Hyatt sits in the center of Beaver Creek village. The Ritz-Carlton is up the hill at Bachelor Gulch.

Vail Mountain covers 5,289 skiable acres, with 33 lifts and seven Back Bowls. Founder Pete Seibert first saw the mountain while training with the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale. In the mid-1970s, President Gerald Ford worked so often from Vail that it became the Western White House.

  • Back Bowls: seven open bowls, from Sun Down to Outer Mongolia.
  • Beaver Creek: a second resort village just west of Vail.
  • Betty Ford Alpine Gardens: a summer garden in town, named for the former first lady.
  • Bravo! Vail: orchestral concerts across the valley each summer.
  • Aspen: about 39 miles away, for a two-resort trip.

  • Ski gear: boot bags and skis need hold space, so share counts early.
  • Daylight timing: plan to land before sunset, as night operations are discouraged at EGE.
  • Storm days: allow time for a diversion to Rifle.
  • Two resorts: Aspen and Vail pair well with a short repositioning hop.

Vail runs on Mountain Time. The town averages about 200 inches of snow a season, and summers reach the mid to high 70s°F. Customs at Eagle County is open Thursday to Monday. Each international traveler needs a valid passport.

Hogani Jets plans each Vail private jet charter around Eagle County's tower hours, customs days and mountain weather. Arrivals are timed for daylight, with Rifle held as a backup on storm days. Its founder, Matt Hogan, has handled over 2,000 private flights in more than 90 countries.

Every operator's Part 135 certificate, insurance coverage, and safety record is independently reviewed before booking, with ARGUS, Wyvern, or IS-BAO ratings considered where they exist as one part of that review.

  • Daylight arrivals: flights timed to land while the Eagle County tower is staffed.
  • Customs planning: international legs set for Thursday to Monday office hours.
  • Storm backup: Rifle or Centennial ready if Eagle closes to arrivals.
