A private jet to Jasper costs $1,300 to $2,300 per hour by turboprop. Light jets run $2,300 to $3,800. Charters land at Hinton/Jasper-Hinton (CEC4), a 4,510-foot runway outside the park, about 50 minutes by car from Jasper. The airstrip inside the park is closed to commercial flights. A turboprop from Edmonton takes 40 to 45 minutes, against a four-hour drive. International flights clear customs in Edmonton or Calgary before the hop to Hinton. Hogani Jets coordinates every charter through licensed Part 135 operators or carriers approved by the applicable aviation authority.

Jasper is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town sits deep inside the park, four hours west of Edmonton. A 2024 wildfire destroyed about a third of the townsite's buildings. Rebuilding continues, and the park and its lodges are open to visitors again.
Rates shown are hourly charter rates by aircraft category. Your quote shows one all-in price, including taxes, permits, and handling.

Jasper is remote even by Rockies standards. Without a charter, visitors drive four hours from Edmonton or around five from Calgary. Flying to Hinton cuts that to under two hours door to door from Edmonton.

  • Hours saved: Hinton puts you about 50 minutes from Jasper instead of four hours.
  • No park airstrip needed: charters use Hinton, the legal gateway just outside the park.
  • Gear in the hold: skis, packs and camera kit travel with you on the turboprop.

Can a private jet land at Jasper airport?

No. Parks Canada opens the airstrip inside the national park only to small non-commercial planes of 12,500 lb or less. Charter flights land at Hinton/Jasper-Hinton (CEC4) instead, just outside the park. From there, Jasper is about 50 minutes by car.

Hinton is a quiet, county-run airport with fuel, a small terminal, and visual approach lights. There is no customs office, so international flights stop first in Edmonton or Calgary. A car or van then meets the aircraft for the drive west on Highway 16. The operator selects the handler, and Hogani Jets confirms it in your trip details.

Matt's Recommendation

Clients often see Jasper's airstrip on a map and assume they can land there. They cannot. Hinton is the answer, and the car ride in is one of the best drives in Canada.

Domestic flights can fly directly to Hinton. Flights from the US or overseas must clear customs first.

  • Edmonton to Hinton: about 150 nautical miles, a 40 to 45 minute turboprop flight.
  • Calgary to Hinton: about 190 nautical miles, roughly 45 to 55 minutes by turboprop.
  • Kelowna to Hinton: about 210 nautical miles across the mountains, close to 50 minutes.
  • Vancouver to Hinton: about 320 nautical miles; a light jet takes under an hour.
  • From the US: clear customs at Calgary or Edmonton, then continue to Hinton the same day.

Note: Prices are standard one-way estimates based on the hourly rate of the suggested aircraft category. Flights under 1 hour are shown at a 1-hour minimum, and each leg of a trip with a customs stop is priced separately. Positioning, landing, handling, de-icing, customs costs and taxes are not included here and are added to your final all-in quote.

  • Passports: every passenger needs a valid passport. Non-US citizens should check Canadian entry rules for their nationality.
  • eTA: non-US travelers from visa-exempt countries need an Electronic Travel Authorization before flying in.
  • Customs first: Hinton has no customs, so clear at Edmonton, Calgary or another airport of entry.
  • Park pass: visitors to Jasper National Park need a Parks Canada pass for their stay.

Federal rules allow aircraft to land inside Jasper National Park only in a few cases. These include rescue flights and approved recreational use of the airstrip. Charter planes and helicopter transfers cannot land in the park. Drones are also banned for recreational flying throughout the park.

Can you take a helicopter from Hinton to Jasper?

No. Helicopter passenger transfers cannot land inside Jasper National Park under federal aircraft access rules. The trip from Hinton into Jasper is by car or van, about 50 minutes on Highway 16. Rescue, firefighting and approved research flights are the main exceptions.

Yes. US pets aged three months and up need a rabies vaccination certificate, and there is no quarantine. Other origins follow their own rules. In the park, dogs must stay on leash, so plan walks accordingly.

  • Customs stop: US and overseas flights add a landing in Edmonton or Calgary.
  • Aircraft size: Hinton suits smaller aircraft, so big groups may need two turboprops.
  • Positioning: Few aircraft are based in Hinton, so most fly in from Edmonton or Calgary.
  • Ski and summer peaks: December to March and July to August book out first.
  • Waiting days: if the aircraft stays in Hinton, crew lodging and winter care add cost.

Each Jasper quote is hourly and includes any customs stop and the Hinton leg together. Your quote is in US dollars, though Hinton's local fees are priced in Canadian dollars.

Turboprops often return empty to Edmonton or Calgary after dropping guests at Hinton. Those short legs can be booked one way at a lower price. Timing depends on the original trip, so flexible travelers benefit most.

Fairmont Jasper Park LodgeLac Beauvert, near the townsiteResortLakeside cabins and a golf course; reopened after the 2024 wildfire. About an hour from Hinton airport.

Other stays include lake lodges and townsite hotels, many rebuilt or refreshed since 2024. Check current availability, as some properties are still reopening.

  • Maligne Lake: boat cruises to Spirit Island, about an hour from town.
  • Columbia Icefield: the Athabasca Glacier, on the Icefields Parkway south of Jasper.
  • Jasper SkyTram: a cable car up Whistlers Mountain for wide valley views.
  • Marmot Basin: Jasper's ski area, about 30 minutes from town.

  • Drones: leave them packed, because recreational drone flying is banned in the park.
  • Photography trips: tripods and lens cases fit best on turboprops with large cargo doors.
  • Summer smoke: wildfire smoke can delay flights, so build a spare day into July and August trips.

Jasper uses Mountain Time and the Canadian dollar. Wildlife, including elk, often crosses Highway 16, so night driving needs care. Mobile coverage fades between Hinton and the park gate, so confirm pickup details before landing.
