A private jet to Geneva costs $2,300 to $3,800 per hour in a light jet. Most private flights land at Geneva Airport (LSGG / GVA), 4 km from the city centre. Its 12,795-foot runway is the longest in Switzerland. Flight time is 1.25 to 1.5 hours from London and about 7 from New York. Departures stop at midnight, and flights after 22:00 face noise limits. Switzerland is in the Schengen Area, so non-Schengen passengers register in the Entry/Exit System. Hogani Jets coordinates every charter through licensed Part 135 operators or carriers approved by the applicable aviation authority.

Geneva draws two very different private jet crowds. Bankers, diplomats and watch buyers fly in year-round for meetings in the city. From December to March, ski groups land here on their way to the French and Swiss Alps.

  • Minutes from the city: the airport sits 4 km from the banking district and the UN quarter.
  • Straight to the slopes: a car, turboprop or helicopter continues to Courchevel, Megève or Verbier.
  • Every jet size fits: the runway handles light jets through VIP airliners with no weight penalty.

Geneva Airport's night rules for private jets

Geneva bans departures between midnight and 06:00 and arrivals between midnight and 05:00. Flights between 22:00 and midnight are allowed only for quieter aircraft. Every movement needs a slot, and ski-season Saturdays fill up first. Plan a late departure no later than 22:00 to avoid noise restrictions.

Private passengers use Geneva's business aviation terminal, often called Terminal 3, on the airport's south side. Handlers there include Jet Aviation, Signature and Dassault Aviation Business Services. Swiss customs and immigration take place inside the terminal, and cars can meet the aircraft. The operator selects the handler, and Hogani Jets confirms it in your trip details.

Matt's Recommendation

On a February Saturday, Geneva's business aviation apron is full by midmorning. I lock in the slot and the stand as soon as dates are firm. For Courchevel, we plan the car transfer first. A turboprop hop is a bonus when the mountain weather cooperates.

Yes. Every major European city is within two hours by light jet. The US East Coast and the Gulf are nonstop in larger jets.

  • London (Farnborough or Luton): about 410 to 425 nautical miles, 1.25 to 1.5 hours.
  • Manchester and Edinburgh: 1.5 to 2 hours nonstop, with no stop in London.
  • Paris and Nice: under an hour; Ibiza takes 1.25 to 1.5 hours.
  • Dubai: about 2,660 nautical miles, 6 to 6.5 hours nonstop in a super midsize or heavy jet.
  • New York (Teterboro): about 3,350 nautical miles, 7 to 7.75 hours nonstop in a heavy jet or Praetor 600.
  • Miami: about 4,160 nautical miles, nonstop only in long-range heavy jets and larger.

Can a private jet fly New York to Geneva nonstop?

Yes, Teterboro to Geneva is about 3,350 nautical miles. The Challenger 650 and Falcon 900LX cover it without a stop. A Praetor 600 manages it with a typical load, thanks to 4,018 nautical miles of range. A Challenger 350 or midsize jet stops to refuel, often in Ireland or Iceland.

  • Passports: every passenger needs a valid passport. Non-US citizens should check Swiss and Schengen entry rules for their nationality.
  • Passport validity: at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area, issued within the last ten years.
  • EES: Geneva started the Entry/Exit System on October 12, 2025. Non-Schengen visitors give fingerprints and a photo on first entry.
  • ETIAS: visa-exempt visitors, including US and UK citizens, will need this €20 online approval once it launches, expected in late 2026.
  • Customs: Switzerland is in Schengen but outside the EU customs union. Arrivals from Paris or Nice still pass Swiss customs.
  • Cash: There is no declaration form, but you must answer truthfully if asked about CHF 10,000 or more.

Geneva is the main jet gateway for the northern French Alps. Chamonix is about an hour by car, and Megève is a little longer. Courchevel takes about 2.5 hours by road, depending on snow and traffic.

Can a private jet land in Courchevel?

No, Courchevel Altiport has a 537-metre runway with an 18.6% uphill slope. It takes only turboprops such as the Pilatus PC-12 and helicopters. There are no instrument approaches, so flights need daylight and clear weather. Jets land in Geneva or Chambéry, and the last leg is by car, turboprop or helicopter.

Some handlers at Geneva can route passengers onto the French side of the airport. This can shorten the drive to French resorts. Hogani Jets confirms the option for your date before you land.

Pets entering Switzerland need a microchip and a rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before travel. Pets from the US and UK also need a veterinary health certificate. Switzerland bans the import of dogs with docked ears or tails. Tell Hogani Jets at the quote stage so the operator can approve the pet in the cabin.

  • Ski Saturdays: December to March changeover days are the busiest, and aircraft book out early.
  • Event weeks: Watches and Wonders (April 5 to 11, 2027) and Davos week in January tighten availability.
  • Daily minimums: 2 billed hours for super midsize and smaller, and 3 hours for heavy and larger jets.
  • UK departures: Air Passenger Duty applies, with the highest rate on heavy jets of 20 tonnes or more.
  • Positioning: a one-way ski drop can include the aircraft's empty return.

Every Geneva quote is hourly and shows one all-in price. Quotes are in US dollars, so the franc, sterling or euro cost moves with the exchange rate.

All three are about 15 minutes from the airport by car, outside rush hour. Your driver can meet the aircraft on the apron.

  • Jet d'Eau and the lakefront: the 140-metre fountain is Geneva's best-known landmark.
  • Old Town: St. Pierre Cathedral and quiet cobbled streets above the lake.
  • Patek Philippe Museum: five centuries of watchmaking in one collection.
  • Lavaux vineyards: terraced vineyards on the lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, about an hour away.

  • Skiing: skis and boot bags take real space, so size the aircraft for luggage, not just passengers.
  • Mountain weather: altiport hops cancel in cloud, so keep a road transfer as the backup.
  • Conferences: high-level UN meetings can bring security delays around the city.

Geneva uses the Swiss franc, and French is the local language. Winter road transfers to the Alps need snow tyres, which transfer companies supply. Restaurants in Geneva close earlier than in many capitals, so book dinner ahead.
